California’s Central Coast – A Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend on a mini vacation at the central coast and we loved every minute of it! We are so grateful for family friends hosting us (shoutout to the Gordon family!) so we could get away for a few days, soak up some sun, and relax with our family. Some of our favorite activities that we packed into the weekend were:

Lunch at Chop Street in Pismo Beach, California

This was such a great find for us! This tiny restaurant/bar has the coolest vibe and the CUTEST outdoor patio. The fish tacos were killer and so were the balsamic brussel sprouts! Lucky for us Cody’s mom works in Pismo so we have a pretty darn good excuse to come here again.

Hiking Bluff Trail in Montaña de Oro State Park

OK, so this is more of a nature walk than a hike but it is beautiful! This little trail leads you through some gorgeous vegetation along bluffs that drop straight into the bluest water. There is a spot where the trail breaks off and leads down a beach where (during low tide) you can explore tons of tide pools. It’s a great little trip for families. Montaña de Oro is a little slice of heaven nestled quietly on the central coast line.

Eating our first Old West Cinnamon Roll

Y’all. I don’t even have a picture of these GIANT cinnamon rolls because we were way too busy eating ourselves into a sugar coma to even think about it. Old West Cinnamon Rolls has been in Pismo Beach forever, but yesterday was our first time actually eating there. Let me tell you, they are definitely worth the hype! They’re also super sweet, so much that Cody and I got more than our sugar fix just splitting one. If you’re in Pismo for breakfast they’re a must, but be prepared for a bit of a wait in line. It’s worth it. Trust me.

We packed quite a bit of activities into our little getaway, but my favorite part of our trip was just unwinding and getting “away from it all” to refocus and reconnect. If you love someone and you have the opportunity to travel (near or far) with them, DO IT! Nothing, no money or material things this world can offer, will ever be worth more than the time spent and experiences shared with those you love.

Thanks for following along with our crazy, wonderful, ever-changing life!

XOXO,

Brooke
